this morning #553.

this morning, recently exonerated of all the charges, he barged into his son’s room & yanked the covers right off. the day was already wasting away & he wanted to share as much of it as possible with the boy. he’d woken up with a mix of gratitude & restlessness competing for his attention. waking up next to his wife was sublime but there was a tinge of guilt to his innocence. while the state had locked him up for one of the things he hadn’t done, he’d still left his family behind to fend for themselves. with christmas only one week away, there was much work to be done. visits to various government offices. gift shopping. figuring out his place in society. it’d all be much easier with his son at his side.
