this morning #527.

this morning, she wanted to believe she belonged but her mom’s words gave her pause. it wasn’t because of the words she’d said. it was because of the way she’d said them. while her mother had invited her home for thanksgiving, the misgivings in her voice were clear. the rest of her family would prefer that she didn’t come to dinner & her mom didn’t have the heart to tell her that she’d been shunned. one of her sisters had given up after seeing her screw up one too many times. the other had followed her lead. her father had leant her cash last fall & all he’d got back was an initial “thanks.” until now, she had no inkling anything was wrong. she’d have to learn the truth over dinner.
