this morning, negotiations had stalled & he was calling in the reserves, swerving from panic to manic to pleading for forgiveness. he followed her from room to room, trying to state his case in increasingly bizarre ways. he’d come up short on so many previous occasions that he had to start getting creative. unfortunately, creativity hadn’t ever been his strong suit, so he laid out a three-pronged theory about how quitting his job would actually benefit the both of them. first off, it would curb his complaining. it would also free him up to help around the house. most importantly though, she would get to be the breadwinner. for some reason, he believed that ceding power would make her happy.
