this morning, the four words “you won this auction” appearing on her laptop screen were the signal that she was finally free & could hit the hay. the singer 201 sewing machine she’d always wanted was finally hers. with her late $500 bid, she’d sewn that shit up. in 3-5 business days, it’d be in her apartment & she could start on her journey. as she drew down the shades & crawled into bed, her head filled up with the logo her cousin had created for her new venture. the words “VINTAGE SQUARED” over a sketch of a singer 201. vintage-style clothes made on a vintage sewing machine. if everything went as planned, brooklyn & berkeley would soon be going bananas for her retro pajamas.
