this morning, when it came to her sunday shoe selection, she certainly had her pick of colors. the same range of options did not extend to her fellow churchgoers & at times, she pitied them for that. as she was fond of saying, “you can’t neglect the feet that carry you.” today’s color of choice was emerald, a basic but beautiful velvet flat that she opted for based on the advice of the back specialist she’d started seeing. for now, heels were out & for now, she would just have to accept her 5’0” frame for what it was. while most people would have to talk down to her, they would never dare talk down to her. after all, she was the one who could afford all those shoes.
