this morning #266.
this morning, while she whispered into her sleeping lover’s ear with a sense of purpose, her daughter’s cries started coming from the next room. neither cry roused him awake, so she took a deep breath & got up to welcome her daughter into the day. most mornings these days started similarly, with her cooing calm into existence. at times, all the crying made her wonder if something was legitimately wrong with her little one or if infants just be infanting. once the screaming ceased, she just sat there cradling this tiny, confused creature who looked up at her as if to say “i mean, i know who you are but i don’t KNOW who you are, y’know?” it was ok. she didn’t know her baby yet either.
