this morning #264.

this morning, all these tiny beads of salty sweat ran down her back as she backed away from the fire. each crackle & pop that came from its flames represented a once-cherished photo or relic slowly melting under the heat’s pressure. she had vowed to start a new chapter & do so today, symbolically shedding her past by dousing it in gasoline & tossing a match at the problem. she then watched as all evidence of exes was converted into carbon & toxic gases before floating up into the sky. sure, there was a moment of regret where she wanted to yank them out of the fire & save them but she knew that letting them burn was a dramatic enough gesture to help her to finally move forward.
