this morning #2276.
this morning, when the rains came, we were not prepared. not in the least. we probably should’ve checked the weather before leaving the house but it was too late now. here we were. way out on the beach hundreds of feet away from shelter. as the lightning cracked over the ocean, we ran with the crowd as fast as we could but the sand seriously slowed us down. my heart was pounding but somehow we all made it safely. by the time we ducked inside the truck & slammed the doors shut, i was wet from head to toe. soaked through. we all were. as i caught my breath, the hail began. a blast of ball bearings bearing down on the roof & windshield. no idea why but i started to cry. overwhelmed by the shock of the storm & the sense that we just cheated death, i guess.
