this morning, the overarching theme is “broken dreams.” it wasn’t as if he was making the struggle up but he was being rather dramatic. the fact is that, at a few months shy of age sixteen, he still has his whole adulthood ahead of him. even if he believes that he’s a failure right now, there’s still plenty of time left to achieve. he can develop brand new dreams to replace the broken ones. i try to tell him this all the time. that’s just life, dude. perfection’s an impracticality. no need to surrender. things don’t always pan out as planned. get back up & dust yourself off. maybe give that broken dream another try. maybe take that dramatic attitude & apply it to whatever you’re most passionate about. what’s the worst that can happen? if nothing, you’ll be more adept at adapting.
