this morning, it was undeniable. it’s shaping up to be a brilliant firefly summer. i just stood there in the park for a good fifteen minutes watching their dance. love their hypnotic presence. sadly, i’ve been noticing that lightning bugs don’t come out as much as they used to during the warmer months. probably due to global warming. this morning, before the sun had come up, there were still scores of them out. bouncing about. dots across a daybreak sky. i try to enjoy their beauty for what it is but i can’t help myself. i’m a curious person so i have to wonder what their blinking means. seems like it’s a form of communication but it could also be random. nah. that can’t be the case. god created all of his creatures with intention. even stupid, slimy snakes.
