this morning #2204.

this morning, with an oversized pair of sunglasses & a wacky captain’s accent, i took a seat next to my niece & told her a whale of a tale of a whale who, on a stormy summer day, saved an unlucky boy whose canoe had been suddenly swept out to sea. wide-eyed & smiling, my niece listened intently as i took her on a magical journey. two new friends. water & land. an unlikely pair bonded by their love of the water & their thirst for adventure. they swam with dolphins. visited distant islands. sang all sorts of songs. oh the fun they had whenever they were together! when they eventually rode off into the sunset together & i was done telling my story, she had a million questions for me. turns out that she’d been patiently waiting. quietly poking holes in my story the whole time.
