this morning #2198.

this morning, they totally voted me out of the club. unanimous. didn’t even let me make a case for being allowed to stay. once the vote was over, the room fell silent as i collected all of my belongings & stuffed them into my backpack. i didn’t even bother protesting. little good it would’ve done anyhow. the writing had been on the wall for a while now. over the course of the last few months, there’d been a striking shift in the club members’ politics. their views no longer aligned with mine. our meetings had ceased to be fun. as i slung my bag over my shoulder, i saw that they were all averting their eyes. i gave one final wave to those ingrates before heading out to my car. only when i’d shut the door & was safe inside, did i allow myself to cry.
