this morning #2187.

this morning, the only path out of the compound was now covered with downed trees & all manner of random debris. last night’s rainstorm had definitely done quite a number on the old oaks that’d kept guard along either side of the road. joseph & i drove my truck up to the pile and, when we could go no further, stepped out to survey the mess. a tangle of trees as far as the eye could see. i tried climbing up the pile to inspect how far the wreckage stretched. got about ten feet off the ground & from there i could tell that it went at least as far as around the bend. for the moment, we were trapped. it was going to take the whole community’s help to get us out. we returned to the truck and, in silence, headed back.
