this morning #2133.

this morning, a single, solitary ember that’d somehow managed to hold on all night long caught a breeze & wandered out of the fire pit. floated up into the air past the tent where he lay fast asleep, deep in dreams. in less than a minute, the stray spark came into contact with a pine tree a few dozen feet away. its needles ignited & the fire began to crawl along the tree. soon enough, a thick, flaming branch snapped off & crashed to the ground, jolting him awake. the crackling of wood. the heat & smell of smoke. he poked his head out of the tent. saw the danger & sprang into action. quickly used all the water he had to extinguish it & then frantically searched the canopy for the source of the blaze. hoped it wasn’t too late.
