this morning #2096.
this morning, as the rain came splashing down from the grey skies high above, she fell to the pavement. side first into a puddle with confusion & a buckle of the knees. a twisted umbrella & thump & a thud. brake lights as the minivan came to a stop fifteen feet away. she lay on her side. still grasping that she was on the ground. unsure if it was safe to get up. not yet grateful for her survival. the rain kept coming. traffic flowed past as a man gave her a hand & helped her sit up. she winced at the heat & knot in her hip. the driver got out of his van. approached with a blasé face. no sense of burden for her well being. she turned to see who’d hit her but he ignored her. went right to engaging with the guy who’d given her a hand.
