this morning #2082.

this morning, the sky from here all the way out to the horizon was imbued with a blood red hue. hints of orange. tints of yellow at the edges. they’d parked the car & set up two beach chairs just off of the asphalt to watch the sun rise. a brief reprieve from thirteen hours out on the highway. she hadn’t realized how much she needed to see this. day one of a two-day sprint to the coast. quiet calm. restoring morning warmth. there’d be far more moments like these once they arrived at their destination but this is the one that she’d end up remembering most from this trip. memorable in that it was a silent, half-hour contrast to the wide-sweeping road trip chatter they’d had so far. they just shut up & held hands & watched.
