this morning #2033.
this morning, she got sidetracked by yet another stray neighborhood cat. it came slinking out from underneath a porch right at the exact moment that she was walking past. golden coat. stretched out in the sun. noticed her watching & strode up. rubbed up against her left leg & doubled back to do so again. begging for a petting. she knelt down. slowly ran her hand down the length of the cat’s back & up over his tail. next thing she knew, there were two paws resting on her knee. a steady purr & a fixed gaze. a call for more stroking. she obliged but, realizing she was going to be late to work, tried to say goodbye. didn’t work. not at first. he trailed her to the office. only gave up when she went inside. preferred to remain in the wild.
