this morning #1992.

this morning, in my never-ending search for inspiration, i came across an old magazine. flipped through it & stopped on an article about an elderly wisconsin couple who’d lived in the same town for their whole lives. both now retired. both once teachers. the husband taught american literature at the local college while the wife taught first grade. usually, she was the first teacher for many kids in town and, a dozen years later, he got to see who they’d grown into as adults. they’d compare notes. “you can usually tell which kids will grow up to be well-adjusted adults,” she said. i have a hard time believing that that’s the case. if it was, my charmed childhood would’ve led to way less dread. i’d be made of steel instead.
