this morning #1984.

this morning, as cold as the days had begun to become, she was the first one out the door. so far in life undeterred by the fall chill. still as eager as ever about the day ahead. endless energy driving her down the street. a flurry of preschool steps. C’MON MOM. on the walk, she’d get sidetracked over & over. the route to school was always one of endless wonder. she maintained her pace all day long but, shortly after leaving school, always reached her peak. by nighttime, her mood had changed. calm & quiet. drained by the day. content to sit at the kitchen table with paper & paint. trying to stay awake for as long as she could. never making it past eight. off to bed. fast asleep. dreaming of another amazing day.
