this morning #1847.
this morning, i wasn’t confident that celebrating what this country claims to stand for is even the right thing to do. had doubts about whether any of those supposed values are even true anymore. i’d woken up way early. made some coffee for the cabin. took my mug down to the pier to watch the sun rise. sat down & dangled my legs off the edge. this here. this i can get behind. the idea that i’m free to blow off life for a couple days & just spend time chilling in nature with friends. i’m grateful. we’re lucky. thanks for that, america. it’s the rest of the stuff that i’ve had just about enough with, the stuff that prevents a lot of other folks from feeling as free as we do. if i do celebrate the USA today, it definitely won’t be because of that.
