this morning #1831.

this morning, as dad walked her to school, she splashed her way through what remained of the sidewalk puddles from last night’s storm. tiny rain boot right foot stomp. watching as the water rose up into the air. sort of impressed but she had no choice but to bring her left foot down & try to best her last splash. repeated this at every puddle that they passed. dad had accounted for these delays. knew that they were bound to happen. wasn’t about to stop her. knew the splashing made her happy. with each splash, she shrieked with joy. looked up with wide eyes & a fearless smile. “look at what i can do.” swiftly moved on to whatever was next. might get a bit wet but he found no harm in that. the tradeoff was totally worth it.
