this morning #168.
this morning, she was almost ready to take the plunge. her nerves had settled down. this is what it felt like to wake up a bride for the final time, what it felt like to be finally settling down after an early adulthood filled with missteps & heartbreak. across the bedroom, her wedding dress hung in the closet like a ribbon at the end of a long road race. in a few minutes, once her sisters helped her slip it over her diet-enhanced body, she could stop running. she could catch her breath, she could walk it off & get her heart rate down. it was time to let her four sisters into the room. they had all won the race years ago. the saying was true. nice girls finish last.
