this morning #1479.

this morning, i was stuck in a state of overwhelm as i tried to decide the best way to & how soon to reveal the truth to my editor about what had transpired yesterday at the site of the fire. i’d already written up a story about the inferno itself. nothing flashy. a seemingly sympathetic family of five lost their home after an early morning blaze spiraled out of control. the authorities will likely launch an investigation. i threw in a few quotes from the neighbors. they ran the article on page five alongside a black & white photo of the carnage. page five is right where that boring article belongs. these days, society’s become numb to houses burning down anyhow. if & when i tell the rest of the tale, it’ll be front page news.

go back to the beginning.
