this morning #1393.

this morning, the activity around our kitchen table was like a scene out of 50’s TV, a sitcom with me, the doting mom, placing a fresh plate of bacon & eggs down in front of my young son. tussling his hair. his dad comes down the stairs, cellphone up to his ear. important business but not so important that he doesn’t pause to give me a kiss on the cheek. it’s the weekend, after all. he’s promised that today will be our day. we’ll drive to the lake & spend the whole day as a family. grill some burgers. take the boat out. something cooky but dramatic will happen & we’ll overcome it together. by the end of the day, we’ll all learn a valuable life lesson. next week, we’ll come back & do the whole thing over again.
