this morning #1335.

this morning, they formed a tight perimeter around us & slowly started closing in. scared of what was about to go down, i grabbed her hand. she shook it off & crouched down into a fighting pose. ready to strike. now that i was awake to the fact that fear’s not going to get us out of this mess, i did my best to mirror her stance, right down to the karate chop hands. our captors raised their fists in response & for a minute, no one dared to move or say a word. sweat ran down my back. then the perimeter parted. in stepped a short, bald man. i had no clue who he was but soon learned he was concerned about the whereabouts of a “sam.” don’t know who the hell that is either. neither of us did.
