this morning, it was official. she’d pushed me to the point where i was now looking up spells on the internet. “gypsy curses,” to be exact. i was certain that there had to be some appropriately archaic way to make her pay for the pain she’s wrought. lucky for her, i got sidetracked. went down a rabbit hole into the wild & wooly world of the gypsy moth. get this. they’re now called “spongy moths.” they changed the name out of respect for the romani people. get this. some french dude accidentally introduced the pest to the US in the 1860’s. merci, french dude. get this. after unleashing an invasive species, he abandoned entomology. ran from his problems. became an astronomic illustrator instead.
