this morning #1190.

this morning, i put on my favorite t-shirt. from tokyo. a newish gift from an old friend’s recent trip overseas. white. a single, drawn crimson-red dot & the city name in samurai font on the front. simple. when i wear it, i think of my pal but it’s also a way to pay respect to japanese culture. respect is due. it’s much more evolved than our naïve, undercooked yawn of a culture. the tee reminds me of karate kid movies. sushi chef headbands. flashy anime flags waving in the wind. some day, once i save up enough scratch, i’ll visit for myself, see tokyo up close. when that day arrives, i’ll buy a second shirt. something stylish. something that says “this guy’s worldly” even more than this shirt does.
